Sacramento Maternity Newborn Photographer | Jamie

When I have clients come back after their wedding and engagement, after maternity, after newborn portraits for their brand new baby, for one year pictures of their growing child…it makes me so happy I could cry.

This is a different kind of post. A combo post. Like a pizza. Or a sundae. A montage if you will 🙂

I first met Jamie in 2011, and after a coffee date wedding consult we scheduled an engagement session in Apple Hill. In 2012 she was married at a gorgeous wedding ceremony at Yoche De He in Brooks (at the Cache Creek Casino). I was truly honored to photograph her beautiful wedding. When she e-mailed me for maternity photos in 2013 I was SO excited to see her and Richard again.

Her maternity portraits were taken in wide open fields outside of Davis, California. She is a country girl at heart and this location was perfect for her.

I was excited to see her again in the fall of 2013 for newborn portraits for her brand new baby girl. It made my heart so happy to see their family come full circle. I often wonder if my previous wedding clients have started families together, but to get the call to photograph the new baby is beyond words.

I was incredibly honored yet again to photograph their daughter’s one year birthday session complete with a cake smash 🙂 Jamie brought along a beautiful antique high chair and their little yellow wagon for her daughter’s photos. It was just the best. Little girl has so much personality and the biggest brightest smile. I just adore her.

I would love to photograph all of my old clients again and again 🙂 I really do find myself thinking of them as the years go on. I feel that I was there during one of the happiest occasions of their lives, focused on really reading them and their relationship, trying to see beyond the wedding day into the way they really care for each other. I am honored to be their family photographer.

Sacramento Maternity Photographer | Grace

After talking on the phone about all of the details for her San Francisco home and Lands End maternity session I was absolutely thrilled to meet Grace and her husband. She greeted me with so much warmth and serenity on the day of her photo shoot. She was expecting her first child, gender unknown. We talked about their decision to keep the gender a surprise until delivery, her desire for a calm and peaceful birth experience, and her love of New York and her husband.

We began our session in her lovely house, cozy, colorful, and in a fabulous part of San Francisco. Her little one will be a city baby, born to feel the pulse of this gorgeous city by the bay. Grace and her husband have started the journey towards parenthood and it goes by quickly enough that it is important to document the growing belly, rich with life, and the growing love between Grace and her supportive and caring husband. He spoke fondly to the baby in Chinese, sweet tones that travel through her to his unborn child. This family is filled with love.

After photographing this lovely lady in her home, we traveled to the Lands End and Sutro Baths area of San Francisco. Along the coast the winds blew with such force we struggled to walk towards the impressive cliffs and vast views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Grace’s hair blew with such artistry, it was amazing and I loved every second.

Oh this view. I will never tire of this view. It is as if she is looking out over her unknown future as a mother. Counting on the strength her child will give her to help her navigate these new waters in her life.

And this love. Oh sweet love, the way a couple can laugh together. It makes my heart sing.

Folsom Maternity Photographer | Whitney

I met with Cami for a mini maternity session in one of my favorite Folsom fields. Surprise to us all, she ended up having her baby girl only days after our shoot! I am so glad we were able to get together for a session before her first child made her grand entrance into the world 🙂

We chatted about school districts, summer plans, and childbirth as we wandered the warm paths on the way to this grassy oasis. It was not more than 20 minutes later we wrapped our session, with me waving wildly to swat away the mosquitos 😉 I love summer, the sun, warmth (Frozen influence here haha), but those dang mosquitos can ride off into a sunset somewhere!!

Many thanks to a few dear friends for referring Cami and her husband to me to photograph their maternity session! I appreciate those kind referrals more than anything.

Maternity mini sessions are a great way to document a growing belly during pregnancy. I love capturing these moments before your baby has arrived. There is nothing in the world like a glowing mama-to-be, laughing in the sunset light, excited and nervous with anticipation of her first baby. The way Cami holds her belly so sweetly makes me smile, for it is a day so soon she will be holding her baby with those same hands.

Natural field locations, like this one in Folsom California make for a beautiful backdrop for your photography session. Neutral colors that work with the green tones in the soft grasses, soft blue skies, and golden sunsets are perfect for my expectant mamas to wear 🙂 Don’t know what to wear? Please ask!
