Yosemite Family Photographer | My Family

I recently read a great quote by Elizabeth Gilbert about balance and life and it rang so true to me and inspired me to be ok with editing and sharing some personal photos when I am still working furiously on my client work. That woman is wise…and I am going to try my darndest to live this every day.

“If you can get some stuff done in the chaos sometimes, god bless you. If you can basically hold it together, propping yourself up with duct tape and glue, rock on. If you can manage stay upright even one hour a day, you’re doing pretty great, as far as I’m concerned. And if you can be kind to the other stumbling fools around you half the time — well, that’s just heroic.

Basically, I think we are all just sloppy stupendous champions.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

We took the kids to Yosemite for spring break this year (so many months ago in March) and we had an absolute blast. I love when we all ship out somewhere as a family, living in close quarters, all piled on top of each other, exploring, getting dirty. We may not have hiked any mountains (the toddler dictates our activities haha) or adventured like we used to pre-kids, but we did this trip together and that is what matters. This is embarrassingly my first trip to Yosemite. I don’t know how I have lived 37 years without visiting this glorious, amazing place.

Wow.

No words to describe driving into Yosemite for the first time.

I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

We played “My House”, all the windows down, sunroof open, in awe of the majestic beauty. Every time I hear that song I know think of Yosemite.

Now to put a bride and groom in this glorious park (hint hint) I would love to shoot a wedding here one day, universe.

Thank you, world, for looking at my family photos. I love photographing my kids and need to to it more this year. Being a family storyteller is such a joy and I loved reliving our trip through these images.

Sacramento Family Photographer | More Family at Moss Beach

Oh hello. This family is gorgeous. They are fun and carefree and they are one of my all time favorite clients.

I adore Cristin and her sweet baby girl, her awesome husband with beautiful hair, and how after every session with them I leave smiling. Cristin has a way about her that just makes people around her happy. She is infectious with her grins and I admire her greatly. I had the pleasure of meeting Cristin a couple of years ago for a couple’s session. After she announced her pregnancy I was thrilled to photograph her belly (and her and Matt were in the photos too!) She has amazing taste and honestly, it was truly an honor to continue to get her and her family in front of my camera. She is as sweet and kind as she looks and her baby girl is just the cutest.

I was down in Moss Beach for a wedding and I had the brilliant idea to photograph her family holiday photos near Half Moon Bay. I was lucky to have a beach house near the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, and after a little research I loved the idea of a photo session amongst the groves of coastal trees, with soft light streaming through, the ocean in the background.

Cristin was excited about the idea of a session near the coast and she and her family met me at the Marine Reserve for a morning shoot. The light, the sky, this family did not disappoint. We were able to wander the cypress groves and enjoy some time talking as we took photos. I cannot thank Cristin enough for continuing to trust me with her family photos. She is a photographer herself and there really is no greater compliment than being asked to photograph a photographer’s family year after year. Thank you sweet Cristin!

Sacramento Maternity Photographer | Grace

After talking on the phone about all of the details for her San Francisco home and Lands End maternity session I was absolutely thrilled to meet Grace and her husband. She greeted me with so much warmth and serenity on the day of her photo shoot. She was expecting her first child, gender unknown. We talked about their decision to keep the gender a surprise until delivery, her desire for a calm and peaceful birth experience, and her love of New York and her husband.

We began our session in her lovely house, cozy, colorful, and in a fabulous part of San Francisco. Her little one will be a city baby, born to feel the pulse of this gorgeous city by the bay. Grace and her husband have started the journey towards parenthood and it goes by quickly enough that it is important to document the growing belly, rich with life, and the growing love between Grace and her supportive and caring husband. He spoke fondly to the baby in Chinese, sweet tones that travel through her to his unborn child. This family is filled with love.

After photographing this lovely lady in her home, we traveled to the Lands End and Sutro Baths area of San Francisco. Along the coast the winds blew with such force we struggled to walk towards the impressive cliffs and vast views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Grace’s hair blew with such artistry, it was amazing and I loved every second.San-Francisco-Maternity-Photographer-In-Home-Sutro-Baths-LandsEnd-007San-Francisco-Maternity-Photographer-In-Home-Sutro-Baths-LandsEnd-008

Oh this view. I will never tire of this view. It is as if she is looking out over her unknown future as a mother. Counting on the strength her child will give her to help her navigate these new waters in her life.San-Francisco-Maternity-Photographer-In-Home-Sutro-Baths-LandsEnd-009

And this love. Oh sweet love, the way a couple can laugh together. It makes my heart sing.San-Francisco-Maternity-Photographer-In-Home-Sutro-Baths-LandsEnd-010San-Francisco-Maternity-Photographer-In-Home-Sutro-Baths-LandsEnd-011

Thank you to Grace and her husband for their willingness to brave the winds with me!
