I met Sophia over e-mail a few months back and was so excited to do a maternity session with her and her husband at their home in San Francisco. The sunset was perfect the night we met, and the views from their balcony were amazing. I can’t wait to meet her baby girl! Congratulations to this lovely couple!
It was a joyful day when I drove down to San Francisco to meet Cristin and Matt’s newest baby girl, and photograph their new family of four. Her maternity sessions (for both this baby girl and her first daughter) were both a dream. Cristin is beautiful, with an effortless grace about her. Her and Matt have such a warm home for their girls, it is always awesome to visit them and photograph them in their element.
Their oldest daughter is full of life and she makes me smile. I have a crazy little toddler of my own and it is always fun to be around children with such big and happy personalities. The girls were lovely during the session, while little R slept and cooed her sister danced and bounced and ran around playing. I know I have said it many times before, but there is something soothing and magical about in-home newborn sessions where the pace is relaxed and the session is fully about the love and quiet chaos of a growing family. The way Cristin and Matt hold their baby girl, the way C dances around the bed and giggles until we all try to get her to snuggle her sister and she bounds out of the room without so much as a second glance back. The way the soft morning light streams through their windows and highlights the joy mixed with sleeplessness mixed with a kind of happiness only new parents know. I cannot thank Cristin and Matt enough for continuing to trust me with their family’s images.

I first met baby girl L when she was 6 weeks old, a little older than most babies in my newborn sessions. The expressions and smiles and eye contact are the best when photographing an older baby and make the lack of a sleepy babe worth it. She may not have fit into her parent’s hands anymore, but she made my morning. I love her delicate features and sweet spirit and big smiles. I had such a blast spending time with this family. Congrats on your new life, baby girl! You have a lot to be thankful for, an amazing set of loving parents, a beautiful home, and so much love. I wish this sweet family all the best!
