Sacramento Maternity Photographer | Hoi Mei

Hoi Mei is the cutest pregnant woman. She first contacted me a few weeks ago for a maternity session and I am so happy we were able to meet before she has her baby boy! She was 38 weeks and adorable at her maternity. We met in the Mission District of San Francisco where she met her fiancé, and she found the best alley full of murals for us. The light was perfect and the two of them were perfect. After spending some time wandering the street and smiling with tourists and laughing with all the neighborhood kids riding their bikes we headed out to the coast. I had been warned San Francisco has been incredibly foggy, and about a mile down the road I hit a wall of fog. The coast was blustery and cold and damp but absolutely amazing and gorgeous and windy and honestly perfect. I adore weather. I mean, in California we have summer and summer and winter so to this valley girl the fog is awesome. I love love loved shooting there and Hoi Mei was the best model. Her pink dress blew softly in the wind, the way these two looked at each other…again, perfect. I cannot thank them enough for having me out to take these photos for them and I am so excited for their newborn session later this month!!

Sacramento Maternity Photographer | Marcela + Seth

It was early morning on an unseasonably warm day in San Francisco. As I waited at the beach for this really cool couple to arrive I reflected back on how lucky I felt to be photographing these two again. Marcela and Seth are the super smiley, beautiful, and seriously hilarious pair I had the joy of meeting at their engagement photo session and at their wedding last year.

Oh what a difference a year makes. Marcela and Seth have moved back to the West Coast after Marcela finished med school. She is deep into her residency with plans on moving into a blossoming career in Opthalmology. My eyes are horrible, it must be why I secretly love her so much. She is a fiery personality, charismatic, charming, and insanely likable. Seth is a dream of a husband, doting, kind, always there to make Marcela laugh and help her out while balancing working full time and trekking across the country managing moves and their jam packed social calendar. These two are a powerful team! I am inspired in their presence. When they contacted me about photos for her growing belly I was thrilled to see them again!

We wandered the beach with the gorgeous blue skies above. I was slightly mortified when we stumbled upon the weirdest mass seagull grave on the beach, I am so glad we were able to chuckle about that even at their newborn session 🙂 We forgot about the poor birds after we found a beach ball dancing in the waves, we ran into the water, we ran on the sand…I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this session with them. They were keeping the gender a surprise for birth (incredible way to do it!) and I was itching to find out if they were going to have a spicy little girl or a sweet little mini-Seth.

Sacramento Maternity Photographer | Corinne

This is Corinne, my sweet friend. She is hilarious, kind, a yoga-pant loving, dog person, candy-holic (like me), and also happens to be an amazing family and baby photographer. We got together with our friend Jo (who shoots weddings with me and I with her) and our kids for a girl’s trip to the beach. Of course, when three photographers get together we take a few photos. Her third baby is due in a few short weeks and I am beyond excited for her family. This little girl brewing in her belly is incredibly loved, wanted, and was a prayer in the distance for a long time. I am so happy she is getting her third baby for her older two to dote on and spoil. I am certain this little girl will never want for anything!

We went out right at sunset and ran around like crazy people in the sand. This was steps from our beach house in Watsonville. It was shenanigans, but that is just how we operate. I think I laughed the entire time I was photographing her. Jo was running around beside me shooting as well, and as a team we gave Corinne (this camera shy gal) some fun photos to remember her baby belly. Corinne found this awesome beach house and I am so looking forward to making this a yearly trip. Perhaps we shall get some photos of her baby next fall, a little 9 month ball of energy we are sure to experience next trip.

Then we went back and had an amazing dinner I cooked. Peaches and prosciutto, steak, crusty bread. Good friends, good food, good times.
