Sacramento Family Photographer | The Norman Family in Seattle

A while back I wrote about my experience teaching at a photography conference in Seattle for Clickin Moms. As part of the conference I taught two classes on capturing people outdoors, showing joy in couple’s photography, and indoors capturing sessions in low light using the light you’ve got! I had the extreme pleasure of seeing some old friends again…a bride and groom from years ago! Seth and Marcela agreed to meet with me and brought along their little one year old son, who I haven’t seen since his newborn session last year. I was so honored they took time out of their busy schedules to model for my class and hang out while I talked and talked about light and shadows. Thank you so much for helping me out!!

Here are some of the images I took while sitting on the hotel conference room floor with this fun family. You never need a beautiful backdrop or fancy home to get meaningful and emotive imagery, it is all about connection and light.

One behind the scenes, towards the end of the class little E fell asleep 🙂 the ladies in my class went crazy for this sweet boy and couldn’t help getting some shots of him in his mama’s arms!

Camping, Family, Good Times | My Family | Sacramento Family Photographer

Getting outside, seeing the world from another perspective, being in nature, letting my boys run wild, staying up late and star gazing…all things I love dearly. Jumping out of my routine and being truly free, unplugged, and connected to my family all help me recharge and allow me to be more present in my day to day life. I look forward to summers so much and these lazy days camping and exploring mean so very much to me. I still have more to share from last year, but these images are a few from our camping trips to Santa Cruz Mountains, Lake Tahoe, and Mammoth Lakes. We do sometimes stay at campgrounds with friends, although our hearts belong in the wild when we camp on open land without worries about reservations and availability. Decompressing and taking photographs of my family really shows me how much I love documenting our day to day life. I love being my family’s photojournalist and I would love to be yours 😉
