This is my beautiful friend, Chloe. She is a fab photographer and I have been friends with her for years. She asked for an extended family session with her in-laws for Christmas. First, it is always rad to photograph another photographer. Nerve wracking, yes, but rad. I loved the dynamics between the kids and their grandparents and uncle. The whole session was a blast. Not to mention her styling was top notch!

I have photographed Chloe before, and we were both actually in Seattle to photograph our friend, Bre. We’ve been to conferences together and she is an all around wonderful person! I cannot thank her enough for trusting me to take these shots of her family for the holiday 🙂

Sacramento In Home Newborn Photography

Why should you do in-home newborn photography?

My favorite sessions are in your home. Especially when it comes to your newborn. Everyone is comfortable. This is really the main reason I love coming to you to photograph your new baby. Not to mention the fact that all of your personal belongings and everything that matters to you is there too. Your home is yours. There is no one else that lives exactly as you do. Let’s capture that. What makes you an individual is what I want to photograph.

I first met Queena and Tyler at their maternity session. They are a pair of doctors living in downtown Sacramento. We used one of their favorite parks for their maternity, and I wanted to do their newborn session in their home. This is their happy place. The space where they brought their baby home. The space he will grow up in. The physical walls around their hearts.

Making your newborn session personal

I show up and have no expectations for you or your baby. It is all about your lives together and if that means some chaos and a few piles of baby-supplies laying around, so be it. Believe me, my home was not catalog worthy when I brought my babies home. Sometimes life is messy, but I see your love. I see the most beautiful corners and pockets of light in your home. Let’s focus instead on the connection you have with your partner and your new babe. What matters is making your session personal. I love when my families trust me enough to come into their home, open door invitation, full of trust and peace in whatever I photograph they will love the images.

Congratulations to this beautiful family on their new addition. Your peaceful and loving home will be the place this little guy will always cherish. Thank you for having me photograph him.

Sacramento Davis Family Photographer | Sophia + Family in the Woods

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Sophia a couple of years ago at her maternity and newborn sessions.

Relationships Rock!

Happiness for me is connecting with the same families year after year. Relationships rock. It means so much when I get to see babies grow up. What I do as a photographer is so personal and it matters to me to get to know my families and seeing them on repeat is such an honor.

I am actually interested in learning about your extended families, how you feel about raising your children, what you’ve been up to over the past year. Make me jealous with all of your cool trips. Talk to me about potty training and bedtime routines and finding time for date nights. I love it all.

Sophia and her family have had a busy few years, raising their adorable daughter, Nikki, and spending time traveling and working in San Francisco. Their little girl is a spit-fire. She has so much personality and energy and I loved watching her explore!

Letting kids be kids at your family session

When I assist in choosing a location for a family session I really focus on finding a spot that works perfectly for the ages of your children. Nikki needed room to run and play, but also a place that is semi-confined and safe. Letting children be free to play is key in keeping them happy. I can capture so much more about them as little people when they have some independence.

Since I knew how old Nikki was, and after chatting with Sophia about possible locations, this spot won me over. I had a day of family sessions at this gorgeous spot and knew it would be perfect for a toddler. I appreciate getting to see this awesome family again and hope they have a fantastic year!
