Sacramento Family Photographer | Sogard Family

Eric and Kaycee welcomed a baby girl into their family, and Kaycee contacted me to grab some photographs from those oh-so-fleeting baby moments with the three of them.

I loved meeting with this beautiful family in the Oakland Hills on a warm summer day. As I drove in I was looking forward to meeting this little girl, who is almost the same age as my youngest son. It was all talk of babies and sleep and crawling and sitting and all of the good things that come in the form of a little baby. We chatted about Eric’s baseball career in Oakland, how Kaycee was adjusting to the Oakland area…and really, most of the conversation was focused on just how much these parents are madly in love with their little girl. She was such a sweetheart. I adored her big eyes and adorable outfits. She was so sweet and calm, never cried or fussed.

Babies bring such happiness to a family. It seems as though they have been there for so much longer, it is hard to remember life without them. It is always such a wonder that someone so tiny has the power to change you, really change you, make you better than you were before children. All of a sudden it is like you are part of a club. A club of parents that all relate instantly to each other. There is suddenly a whole new world that opens to you when you become parents…you understand the connection with other moms and dads, the way you can love and fear someone that belongs solely to you. Being a parent is amazing and worrisome all at the same time!

Thank you to Kaycee for having me out to Oakland to photograph her family. It was a joy to meet all of you!

Family Photography is as important to me as it is to you. I will work hard to capture the natural interactions between you and your children.

Folsom Family Photographer | Brandt Family

I met up with Jessica and her family for an outdoor family portrait session in Folsom, California a few months back. Lovely green stalks still graced the open field, and her families gorgeous complexions and fiery red hair complimented this natural setting perfectly. Thank you to this sweet family for allowing me to provide them a few images of their growing children.

This family is at home in the outdoors, often taking family camping trips and vacations in the mountains. They want to expose their children to a life filled with fresh air and sunshine, and that is probably why I am so fond of them. I adore sweet siblings the kind of kids that are gentle with each other, and truly love each other. These lovely children are a true joy to be around and their parents are so kind and compassionate with them.

Family photography, to me at least, should show a little more than a standard portrait. I feel happiest when I can connect with my clients on a deeper level and unearth their personalities, true smiles, and soft interaction. There is always a moment where a family is really being themselves and individual personalities are shining through…those are my favorite moments to capture. Putting children at ease and drawing them out is always my goal during a family portrait session.

Family means so much to me, I never want to forget the way my husband laughs with my two boys. I always feel like I am given the opportunity to get to know people in their elements when they are with their own families during a session, and that is such an honor. A philosophy I was exposed to from some industry leaders I admire, being a photographer is about more than showing off what people look like…it is about showing who they are and how they are with others that they love.

I cannot believe this little girl is already one, I swear she was just in her mama’s belly during our maternity session last year. I took her newborn portraits last June and time has whipped by so quickly I was in shock it was time to take her first year photos. This little peanut is so much fun, so lively, so much spunk in her tiny body. I can always tell the little girls that will do well in life 🙂 the ones that have a wonderful spirit and a confidence that is well beyond their years.

I met up with baby D’s gorgeous mom and awesomely cool dad in Folsom for some outdoor portraits to celebrate her first birthday! Shout out to this stylish mom’s fabulous skills, if you are in the market for a hair artist you need to contact her: Jennifer at Indie Salon 🙂

Something about this image just says ‘motherhood’ to me. A bleary, quick moving time in our lives where we hug and love and protect our children. Trying to raise them and lift them up, molding compassionate and healthy adults. It goes by too quickly. For a short time and hopefully for always our children look at us with peace and no-holds love.Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-004Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-005Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-006Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-007Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-008Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-009Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-010Sacramento-Folsom-Baby-Photographer-011

Anita Martin Photography is currently booking maternity, child, and family sessions in the Northern California area. Local Sacramento and Folsom families will be treated to a session at their home or outdoor location of their choice. Sessions can begin in the home with a secondary location outside! In-home sessions allow a greater level of personality to be infused in the images, showing your children in their natural setting, amongst their belongings and toys. I focus on the relationships between you and your family and children during your session and it is my priority to document the way you interact with each other.
