Sacramento Family Photographer | Christina + Family in Loomis

Christina and her gorgeous family recently bought some property in Loomis, outside of Sacramento.  I have had the ultimate pleasure of photographing this family on a number of occasions (you can check out some of their older photos here ). They are in the process (early early stages!) of building their dream home in the country.

They are so naturally affectionate with each other and these kids are so spunky and fun. While life is challenging living in a trailer while they start construction, they are loving every single second and want to document their land before they break ground. Families and organized chaos go hand in hand. This session was incredible and I wish all my families wanted to run around their homes and play and laugh. Hint hint. With younger kids it is best to have low expectations and really let them be themselves. Since children are generally at ease in their own space it is always a stellar idea to do your family session at home.

The light was perfect while the kids played. We ended our session with our usual conversation. It is always hard to leave my favorite repeat families. I feel insanely lucky to do what I do and get to know such cool people. It is fun watching families grow. It’s definitely a blessing to look forward to going to work.

It was a blast running around their gorgeous field with them and I wish them all the best in their new adventure. There is really nothing better than these types of personal sessions. Documenting their now is so truly special. These moments really are the time of their lives. Family photography is so important, and saving the excitement and challenges of building their family home is a great chance for an honest session.

Sacramento Family Photographer | The Norman Family in Seattle

A while back I wrote about my experience teaching at a photography conference in Seattle for Clickin Moms. As part of the conference I taught two classes on capturing people outdoors, showing joy in couple’s photography, and indoors capturing sessions in low light using the light you’ve got! I had the extreme pleasure of seeing some old friends again…a bride and groom from years ago! Seth and Marcela agreed to meet with me and brought along their little one year old son, who I haven’t seen since his newborn session last year. I was so honored they took time out of their busy schedules to model for my class and hang out while I talked and talked about light and shadows. Thank you so much for helping me out!!

Here are some of the images I took while sitting on the hotel conference room floor with this fun family. You never need a beautiful backdrop or fancy home to get meaningful and emotive imagery, it is all about connection and light.

One behind the scenes, towards the end of the class little E fell asleep 🙂 the ladies in my class went crazy for this sweet boy and couldn’t help getting some shots of him in his mama’s arms!
