Sacramento Newborn Photographer | Jackson

This sweet boy is the first little one for Stacey and James. I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding at San Francisco City Hall last year (you should take a peek, because it was spectacular). Once little Jackson was born Stacey and I found a date that worked and I drove out to their home for their newborn session.

Newborn Sessions in Your Home

I love doing newborn sessions in your home. Everyone is happy and comfortable. Plus you get the added bonus of having your belongings and pets in your photos too. I recommend scheduling these in the morning. Most children tend to be happiest earlier in the day and that goes for newborns too. That sleepy, coffee-scented vibe is my favorite. I love cozy mornings at home with my family, and I try and convey some of that family-filled time in your images.

Stacey and James have a warm, bright home. They were so calm, put together, and relaxed during their session. Their sweet little newborn was a welcomed addition. They really cherish their time with him. They talked about their plans to take him out to see the world and explore. Stacey and James can’t wait until he is old enough to roam the hills behind their home.

I know this little boy will have a fun and adventurous life. Congratulations to this awesome family on the arrival of their son!

Sacramento Maternity Photographer | Cat + Family

Maternity photos rock. Referrals rock. Cat and her family are also pretty awesome.

I had the extreme pleasure of photographing Cameron and Gabby’s wedding last year, and Cat is Cam’s sister-in-law. I almost immediately bond with all of my families. It is even faster, like light speed, when I get a chance to photograph a friend of family member of a wedding couple.

Why maternity photos?

I say again and again, photos matter. Why maternity photos? There are a handful of important moments in your life when you really want to hit the pause button. Growing your child inside of your body was one of those times for me. I may not have enjoyed every second of being pregnant (I was not one of the lucky glowing mamas out there and am still jealous of you all), but I appreciated the pure miracle of what was happening. From my perspective, as a photographer, I love moments. Big moments, small moments, any moments. Maternity photos are a time to hit pause. To sit back and really soak up your pregnancy.

We talk. We walk. We chat about your pregnancy and your upcoming newborn session. We get to know each other and there is a level of trust formed between you/mama and me/photographer. When I show up to your home for your newborn session we already know each other. We are old friends. When I snuggle your baby and breath in all that sweet newborn goodness you smile. We will bond over the joys and pains of childbirth. Maternity photos are a step in our relationship and one that I value and appreciate so much. My honest feelings on maternity photos are why not? Why not celebrate the beauty that is your growing body? Why not document this precious time in your life? Why not get to know the woman (me) that will photograph your delicate newborn baby.

Why maternity photos? Because moments and photographs matter.

Daniel and Cristiane welcomed me into their home for both their maternity and newborn photography sessions. They are lovely people with a warm, loving home. I enjoyed meeting them and their sweet boy. Cristiane told me her mother would join us for the session, and I was excited for those images as well. The connection she shares with her mother was palpable. I am sure her bond with her son will grow into the kind of relationship she shares with her own mother. She was visiting from overseas and will cherish the time with her new grandson.
