Sacramento Family Photographer | Sophie in Brentwood

I absolutely adore this family. Fatima and Stephen’s sessions have been some of my all time faves. Their wedding (and all of our photography sessions since) have been awesome. Fatima and Stephen and their kids are the best. Sophie turned one, so I had to photograph them again! This time I drove out to Brentwood to photograph this sweet girl at home.

Fatima absolutely adores her family and it shows. She has so much pride in both of her children. Tima is a wonderful, loving, and very attentive step-mom to Slater. Slater is the most polite, well behaved, and sweetest boy. I love hearing all about the newest snakes in his pet collection and how he’s doing in school. Sophie is a doll. She smiles and smiles for miles. I cannot get enough of her dimples. Her parents and brother are so in love with her and it shows.

Tima and Stephen have built a very happy home together. Their whole vibe is calm and loving and I always feel so at home around them. One of the best parts of my job is meeting new people I truly care about and love. I enjoy chatting with Tima and Stephen, I love getting updates on the kids. It warms my heart to follow their family on social media and over texts. Finding new friends who invite me into their home for photography and good conversation is amazing and if my career can do that, it is a win win win.

Sacramento Family Photographer | Reagan and her horse

Reagan loves her horse. This pony belonged to her mom, Jamie, and this old boy is 25 years old. Jamie wanted a photography session with her family to document their time with him. We met at Jamie’s parent’s home near the river in Sacramento. After loading up the trailer we headed out to one of her neighbor’s sunflower fields (which was beautiful and quiet first thing in the morning). Reagan ran around and played while Richard worked on getting the horse ready for his photoshoot.

I was so excited to photograph Reagan and her family this year. I had the pleasure of meeting Jamie and Richard years ago for their engagement and wedding, and maternity and newborn photos of baby Reagan. We also saw goats, Reagan wanted to go see the goats, and the walk down to see them was so peaceful. Reagan led her horse and marched us down the dirt road which was amazing for photos. Plus goats. Who doesn’t love a cute goat. The last time I saw this family Reagan was a newborn, so it was awesome to catch up and spend some time getting to know her. She is spunky, bright, and charming. She won my heart over by wanting to hold my hand and show me all around her grandparent’s neighborhood. I was sad to leave, this was definitely a morning well spent.

Photographing Children | Summer Lake Tahoe

Photographing your child in Lake Tahoe – Tips and Tricks for Amazing Vacation Photos!

There are no tricks to photographing children except to let them be themselves! I met a fun family for a children’s photo session while they were on vacation in Lake Tahoe. The parents chased after the toddlers behind the scenes (with coffee mugs in their hands)  while I worked some magic down by the lake.

I was introduced to this extended family by Jenna – you have to check out her Lake Tahoe family session here!!

Photographing a handful of kids is always challenging. My favorite thing to do is get the kids moving. Giving them an activity where they are looking happy is key to grabbing some great images. This works for my own boys and for every family I meet and put in front of my camera.

When kids are on vacation they are on sensory overload. This is especially true for the youngest in your group. Morning sessions are always better! If you want happy vacation photos with your kids, grab your camera first thing in the morning and take them out for a hike or to the beach. I love scheduling my sessions with vacationing families early in the day. This gives the kids an easy session, fresh off their night sleep. Families then have their entire day left to explore and have fun!!

I love photographing families, but these kids were awesome. We ran around the beach, climbed on the dock, threw rocks in the water, admired our dresses, and had a great time. I appreciate all of the families that trust me with their images!
